Southern Joint Replacement Institute Implements Halifax Biomedical Inc. Stereo Radiography Solution

Institute is First in the United States to Apply this New Tool to Monitor Stability of Implants

NASHVILLE, Tenn., – December 11, 2014 – Southern Joint Replacement Institute (SJRI) is pleased to announce the implementation of the L-Arm Stereo Radiography Solution. Developed by Halifax Biomedical Inc. (HBI), a Nova Scotia-based company specializing in precision assessment of spine and joint-replacement instability, this new device allows physicians to monitor implants following surgery to assess continued stability and adjust treatment as needed.

SJRI provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of patients with orthopaedic or spinal conditions. A wide range of minimally invasive procedures are offered, using the most advanced technologies available. Inpatient and outpatient therapy and rehabilitation services help patients regain maximum mobility with the ultimate goal being the return to an active lifestyle. The L-Arm Stereo Radiography Solution will allow physicians to closely monitor patients as they return to a more active lifestyle. The data recorded will be useful in both that patient’s and future patient’s treatment.

"We are excited to be the first center in the United States to implement the L-Arm Stereo
Radiography Solution”, said Dr. Michael Christie, Orthopaedic Surgeon with SJRI. “This new tool will allow us to further advance our research in monitoring implant stability and loosening, allowing us to work towards faster and more effective treatment decisions in the future.”

“This implementation by Southern Joint Replacement Institute demonstrates their commitment to be at the forefront of research and new technology development” said Chad Munro, CEO of HBI. ““Our Stereo Radiography (SR) solution provides the increased accuracy needed to predict and possibly detect loose or unstable implants for patients.”
